Add or Change Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill Staffing Distribution
You can add or change the WEM Skill staffing distribution percent for each Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill association in the plan. To do this, the WEM Skill distribution calculation method setting must be Use Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill distribution.
WEM Skill Staffing Distribution Methods
There are 2 different methods for calculating the WEM Skill staffing distribution:
-
Use Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill distribution
This method calculates WEM Skill staffing distribution using the values you enter on the Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill Distribution page.
-
Use WEM Skill FTE required
This method calculates the WEM Skill staffing distribution using the weekly FTE required values for each WEM Skill in the plan. You can see these values on the Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill Distribution page, but you cannot edit them. The WEM Skill rows on the Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill Distribution page have a gray background.
You select the WEM Skill distribution calculation method in the Settings window. See Plan Settings. For more details on the WEM Skill staffing distribution methods, see WEM Skill Staffing Distribution.
On the Scheduling Unit to WEM Skill Distribution page:
-
The percentages get used in calculations for distributing staffing values from Scheduling Units to WEM Skills in the plan.
The distributed values include FTE Actual, Attrition (absolute), and FTE New Hire.
-
The initial base staffing distribution percent gets calculated when you create the plan.
-
The base distribution values are in black text. If a plan week uses the base distribution, these values are in blue text. If you change a distribution percent in a plan week, all values for that week change to black text.
When the distribution percent differs from one week to the next, the FTE actual value for the WEM Skills may not be what you expect. When absolute attrition exists for the previous week, the full absolute attrition may not reflect in the FTE actual. This is because the staffing percentage distributed to the WEM Skills changed.

Scheduling Unit 1 has 200 FTE and 10 absolute attrition.
If you have 2 WEM Skills associated with the Scheduling Unit with a distribution percent of 50 each, you see the distribution in the Consistent Distribution columns below. If you change the week 2 distribution for the WEM Skills to 75/25, the WEM Skill FTE doesn’t drop 5 FTE for each. This is because of the distribution percentage change. See the Change in Distribution columns below.
Calculating FTE actual week-to-week at the WEM Skill level may not appear to be correct. But, because the distribution of staff from the Scheduling Units to the WEM Skills also changed between these weeks, the values are correct.
